On May 25, 2018 the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) took effect in the
European Union. The new regulation imposes broad new data privacy protections for
individuals in the European Economic Area (EEA) and applies to any organization that
collects or handles EEA personal data, regardless of the organization’s location.
